This demo is a crossover between the Mother 3 game with a Paper mario artstyle and gameplay.

HOW TO PLAY

The game is made for controller (keyboard partially supported).

Controls for keyboard: move with arrows and use space bar to interact and time your attacks.

Kinda sad that there's no rolling HP tho, that's pretty vital to the mother series (at least 2 and 3). I haven't played mother 1.


Further the art style here looks amazing. Praying it'll release.

I first tought about implementing the system but it wasn't really compatible with the slow paced paper mario gameplay sadly. Thanks tho!

The .exe gives me an error when I try to execute it and I don´t know why

This demo is really cool, I literally loved everything about it, it seems like I'm playing another game and not Mother 3, on the other hand I found a bug where when I take the meat from the inventory the game doesn't respond to any action with the controller (I have an Xbox360 one) but aside from that bug it's really, really well done! I would like you to make the full game and if you need money I would like to finance you with what I have <333 xoxo

Hey there, I'm noticing this glitch too - I'm not the best at tech, but I notice what triggers the item bug for me is using the final item in my goods. When Flint confirms it on himself, the controls crash and the gameplay/Unity keeps running. I also noticed that when I use Swing from Flint's Brute Force special skills and I miss filling the status bar for the attack with my L joystick by not spinning it around on time for attacks, the game will start to 'autopilot' the Mecha Drago's battle commands - sometimes, the GUI for Flint's moves in battles are present while the Mecha Drago attacks after the Swing glitch, and sometimes the GUI disappears altogether while still being responsive, also with the Mecha Drago attacking on autopilot (sorry for lack of better words, by autopilot I mean it attacks when it's not supposed to, such as when you're picking your move with Flint). Bash works, but it doesn't seem to work for 'rhythm' combos (no matter how precisely I land the button in the 2nd circle). Also some other minor bugs like Flint's paper graphics sometimes disappearing if the Swing glitch happens. If it's any help I'm playing the demo on a DualSense PS5 controller. (Also when using Bash, I don't know which button combos to press on my DualSense PS5 controller's shaped buttons) - (one more minor bug that I noticed is when using both of Flint's stat-raising special skills, Toughen/Stiffen Up, purely graphical, is that the hit counter for both stat raises when combo'd will display and flicker on top of each other). Other than that, the game works amazing and the graphics and audio is pretty good, the audio just cuts out sometimes before going back on a loop - it's still awesome!

Thank you so much for taking the time to detail all the glitch encounters you had! PS4 controls should display and the item glitch should be fixed if you were playing on the latest version I updated a few hours ago. Were you still playing on a previously downloaded version or did you downloaded it recently?

So, I got excited when I saw that this was out since I could not wait to play this concept and see it in action. But, I have tried 3 separate times to finish the battle and did not get to due to bugs that took input control away from me. One time input was taken away for me right as I got the Drago to 230 HP, another time input was taken away from me when a long enough time passed. And it seems like every time I use the drago knife on turn 1 the menu disappears for one turn and I have to blindly select an attack or action. This causes the battle menu to appear on top and stay there even when the Mecha Drago is attacking. I am sorry if I am sounding too mean with how detailed I am getting into this, but I really do want this kind of thing to succeed and you have gotten to a point in game development that I wish I was at.

This is awesome. I think there might be some input issues though, my first play "froze" accepting no inputs in the item menu, restarted, second play "froze" where I can't advance any dialog after the battle ends. Tried with pro controller and keyboard, no dice

(Updated March 9th)

- Controller support has been updated (it should now fully support switch pro controller and dualshock) and some minor glitches and typos were fixed!

- Item menu fix: it will no longer be accessible after using the last item and the soft lock occuring after using multiple items is fixed.

- FIxed the invisible menu glitch when spaming through menus.

- Fixed button B on bash attack not working with xbox controllers.

- Fixed ending dialogue soft lock.

- Optimization

I absolutely ADORE AND LOVE the art-style of the modern Paper Mario games married with the battle systems and atmosphere of Mother 3. 

I found a bug though, the Mecha Drago attacks and Bash attacks are able to happen simultaneously, causing you to get hit without the chance of guarding while also attacking the Drago. 

 I cannot WAIT for this to be expanded into further demos, and if it makes into into a full game, I am 100% here to play it.

Hey! I absolutely love the style of this game, but it keeps freezing a few minutes into the battle, not allowing me to use my controller or keyboard at all. If there's any way to fix this, that'd be awesome to know, but otherwise amazing work!

I seem to be having issue backing out of the item menu.

I think Flint holding the knife makes the battle make less sense. Like why aren't my attacks doing damage unless I use it from my inventory?

My vision on this was that you fight with a random knife from the start of the game and have to use the drago fang which would be a separated key item.

My apologies for being so blunt then! As a fan of the orgional game I assumed you were taking more creative liberties at first glance based on the weapon flint was holding. No problem though.

Why did itch bork up the formatting of my reply?

Unfortunately the game doesnt recognise when Im using a switch pro controller and thus button propmpts get muddled up.

Do you think you could put out a hotfix adressing this?

I will try to look into controlelr issues as soon as I can as it sems to be the case for ps4 controllers as well

This is so beautiful, insanely good art direction. Feels very polished to play, too. Really loved the cutscenes and the new Paper Mario-style attacks Flint can use. The world isn't ready for a full game like this, but I sure am!
